My New Journey
So this year I started out on a new journey. It was both exciting and scary. That was the journey of becoming a momma.
I had always dreamed of becoming a Mam when I grew up, but as most things didn’t go exactly as I planned when I got older I wasn’t sure this thing would either. My husband and I decided we’d start trying and after awhile it seemed like nothing much was happening. So, we thought maybe we’d get some help. Made an appointment with a fertility doctor and two weeks before the appointment I found out I was pregnant. It was the best surprise ever!! I’ve often heard it said that when we put too much pressure on our body it wont happen but when we relax it will do its thing. Well it seems what they say is true.
Pregnancy was definitely like nothing I’d ever experienced before. At the start I was very sick… the “morning” sickness was more like “all day” sickness. It didn’t last longer than my first trimester and honestly from then on it wasn’t too bad. Well, apart from the fact I was in my third trimester during one of the hottest heatwaves to hit Ireland in a LONG ass time. I don’t do well with the heat on a good day, so this was a big struggle. Michael ended up buying me a little paddling pool to cool down in when it all got a little too much. It was a funny sight for sure! Overall I loved being pregnant. There were aches and pains and tiredness, but there were also kicks and twists from inside that made feel like the luckiest person in the world.
We didn’t know what we were having, but Michael had been pretty vocal about hoping it was a girl. So when she came into the world and they said it was a girl, all I could say in that moment was “Babe, you got your girl. I’m so happy for you!”. Yeah, forget all that I just went through, but i’m delighted for you… lol. It’s a funny thought now! She arrived July 26th all 6lbs 9oz or pure cuteness and we named her Sadie Brooke James. She is the most precious gift I have ever been blessed to receive and I feel so honoured to be her momma.
Now the real journey begins…
